Cosmic Drag |
A Dance-Theater showing that explores gender, identity and the reach for wholeness in a dualistic society |
|
 |
Cosmic Drag is the antithesis
of an inferiority complex. It is the
celebration of an integrated
identity with masculine and feminine
principles while exposing
the vulnerable ways we seek
wholeness outside of ourselves.
Tapping into the talent and integrity
of some of the bay area's most
innovative singers, actors
and dancers, including, Ali Woolwich,
April Taylor and Hallie
McConologue, I intend to access
the beauty and humor, the
sacred and profane to
highlight both a personal process
of claiming the various parts of
ourselves while discovering
themes that are universal. |
|
In Cosmic Drag, I am exploring the process of claiming an ever evolving
identity. While attempting to re-claim the myths around gender,
feminine divinity and sexual identity, Cosmic drag is a light-hearted
embrace of humankind. Through the arts are exploring polarities and
the metaphores implicit in the words "Cosmic" (ie. physical universe,
synchronicity, magnetic force, astrology, space, magic, god and
goddess... etc) and "Drag" (ie. drag kings , drag queens, transgender,
gender queer, drag racing, 'life's a drag', gravity, time dragging
on... etc.)"

Life/Art Performance Lab
In combination with her residency, Ms. Boubion is offering a Body Mythology Workshop exploring the cross-section of Gender and Spirituality through the Halprin Life/Art Process. The Life/Art process is a movement -based expressive arts therapy model from the Tamalpa Institute that was co-founded by dance pioneer Anna Halprin and developed by her daughter Daria Halprin in 1978.
Using performance as a process to claiming the Self on an individual level and in relation to the group ensemble, this workshop will encompass movement improvisation, somatic awareness practices, drawing, voice exploration and poetic dialogue. |
